CONDITIONS

1. In these conditions : "the Association" shall mean and include Shotokan Karate International Australia Inc.and Shotokan Karate International Australia Queensland Branch Inc., it's officers, servants or agents.  "Opponent" shall mean any person competing against the competitor.
2. In consideration of the Association accepting my application to enter and compete in the tournament and in further consideration of my opponent competing against me, I hereby agree to abide by the conditions of entry, the rules, by-laws and regulations of the Association.
3. The Association enters into this contract as the Association and as agent for the competitor's opponent. acknowledge that my participation in the tournament carries with it a real risk of personal injury.
4. I acknowledge and agree that the Association shall not be liable whether in tort or contract or otherwise for any loss or damage or injury whatsoever to my person or property whilst participating in or otherwise attending at the tournament, howsoever caused or occurring including without limiting the forgoing, the negligence, breach of contract, wilful act or default of the Association and whether or not such loss or damage or injury occurs within or adjacent to any property occupied by the Association.
5. I acknowledge and agree that my opponent shall not be liable whether in tort or contract or otherwise for any loss or damage or injury whatsoever to my person or property whilst participating in or otherwise attending at the tournament, howsoever caused by or occurring including without limiting the forgoing, the negligence, breach of contract, wilful act or default of my opponent and whether or not such loss or damage or injury to me occurs within or adjacent to any property occupied by the Association.
6. I authorise the Association to contract on my behalf to exclude my liability as an opponent whether such arises in tort or contract or otherwise for any loss or damage or injury to another competitor however caused or occurring including but without limiting the forgoing, the negligence, breach of contract, wilful act or default by myself.
7. I expressly agree to and do hereby waive any rights that I may have which are in any way inconsistent with the foregoing.
8. I give permission for images, photographs and/or video to be taken during the competition and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears.  I understand this permission signifies that photographic or video recordings of me may be electronically displayed via the Internet.

• For Senior kata events Seniors are defined as being competitors aged 16 – 39 years.
• For Masters events Veterans are defined as being competitors aged 40 years & over.
• For Colts events Colts are defined as being competitors aged 16 & 17 years.

• Ages are taken as at 31^st December 2022.
• Events may be changed or combined depending on the number of entrants.
• 6 – 1 Kyu competitors must select EITHER Kihon/Jiyu Ippon kumite OR Jiyu kumite events. Competitors cannot compete in both events.
• 1st and 2^nd place getters in 3-1st kyu events will be given the option of competing in Dan events.

• A medical clearance is required for Veterans (40 years & over) for Jiyu Kumite events.
• Conditions of Entry form MUST be completed and signed or entries will not be accepted.
• Instructors must sign consent for 6^th to 4^th kyu Jiyu Kumite competitors.
• Only one team kata per event per dojo.
• SKIA rules will be followed for all events which are available at www.shotokankarate.com.au/referee.asp

COMPULSORY JIYU KUMITE SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Mouth guard, approved SKIA/AKF hand mitts, groin guard for males, breast guards for females (under 15 years optional).

10 – 4 Kyu Kumite competitors will now do Kihon Ippon kumite instead of Gohon kumite. 

10 – 7 kyu competitors will demonstrate No. 1 defence only for 1 Jodan, 1 Chudan & 1 Mae Geri attack.

6 – 4 kyu competitors may use any of the No. 1 – 6 defences for 1 Jodan, 1 Chudan, & 1 Mae Geri attack.

• All ages as at 31 December, 2019.

• 3 – 1 Kyu competitors who place 1^st or 2^nd in their Kyu Grade events will have the option to compete in the Dan Grade events.

• For Kata events :-

Shitei = Kata selected at random from the list by the Chief Judge

Sentei = Kata chosen by the competitor from the list

Tokui = Free selection of any SKIA Kata by the competitor

• 10 – 4 Kyu Kata events will be Ko Haku for finals.
• 3 – 1 Kyu, Dan grades & Masters Kata events will be Points for the finals.

• Kumite competitors who are defeated in the semi-final round will be awarded equal 3^rd (there is no play-off for 3^rd).

• For Kumite events, competitors 40 years and over must provide a medical certificate to the Tournament Organisers certifying that they are fit before being eligible to compete.  The certificate must be not more than 60 days old, and should be presented to the Organisers by no later than 8am on the day of the competition.

• All competitors with ‘medic alert’ must report to the Tournament Doctor/First Aid person prior to competing to allow that person to familiarise themselves with any special medical needs.

• Events may be changed or combined depending on the number of entrants.

• Disability Events will be determined on the day depending on classification of Disability;
