2024 Australian Open - ELIGIBILITY
The Australian Open is one of the premier events on the Karate Australia calendar. It is another unique benefit for our members.
The following competitors are ELIGIBLE to register and compete:
Competitors that have current membership to Karate Australia through a member organisation.
International competitors that are members of the WKF recognised National Federation in that respective country and have current membership to a club within that country.
Competitors from an organisation who is not a member of Karate Australia providing that organisation did not participate previously, including in 2023. A GAME DAY PASS is required to register.
The following competitors are INELIGIBLE to register and compete:
Competitors from an organisation who is not a member of Karate Australia and have previously participated in the Australian Open including in 2023.
AGE IS DETERMINED BY THE AGE A COMPETITOR WILL BE ON 26 April 2024
For those athletes nominating for selection to 2024 Cadet Junior U21 World Championships - Please contact the event organiser to move your entry if required (see below) ONLY after your club has registered and paid.
An athlete who is seeking dispensation to change age category in 2024 for the purpose of selection to WKF World Championship, the following applies
- Athletes will need to request dispensation in writing acknowledging that they understand any risks of competing up an age category.
- Athletes will be moved up a category for all division
An athlete who requests to move up for Kata will also move up for Kumite and vice versa
- An athlete who moves up an age category will be eligible to participate in all relevant divisions for the new age category.
- An U14 moving to cadets is eligible for

- A Cadet moving to Juniors is eligible for

Weigh In Details:
Thursday 25th April 12pm - 2pm at Mercure Liverpool (424-458 Hoxton Park Rd Prestons NSW 2170)
Friday 26th April 10:00am - 11:30am AND 3pm - 4pm at Tournament Venue (Whitlam Leisure Centre Liverpool)
Saturday 27th April 8am-9am at Tournament Venue (Whitlam Leisure Centre Liverpool)
All children's Kata events will be required to perform compulsory kata as outlined in the Karate Australia children’s guidelines 2024 Kata Rules
